About the Author
Dr. Guangyu Wu, the editor of this book, is a professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Medical College of Georgia, Georgia Regents University. The long term goal of Dr. Wu’s research effort is to define the molecular mechanisms underlying the intracellular trafficking and signal propagation of GPCRs. Dr. Wu’s research at the earlier stages, as a graduate student and a post-doctoral fellow, was mainly on the GPCR pharmacology and signal transduction pathways. Since starting his own laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans, Dr. Wu has focused his research on the regulation of GPCR export from the endoplasmic reticulum through the Golgi apparatus to the cell surface through studying the function of well-defined transport machinery at different intracellular organelles and defining specific motifs embedded within the receptors that direct receptor export from the ER/Golgi or cell surface transport.

Great book on LTE-Advanced. I use it a lot at my work. Clear and precise explanation. Better than going through the standard or simply googling the subject which may or may not get the right answer. This book covers up to 3GPP standard Release 11 (lightly). I'll looking forward to buying the 3rd edition which should cover more of Releases 11 and 12.

Great primer, lacks detail

I've been reading this book and using it quite a bit lately. It's a great primer for LTE but being concise does lead to a different sort of problem, the fact that you end having to go to other books and/or the standards for more details.

Certainly a great start but it won't be your only LTE book if you're doing actual implementation.

I found this book lacking in what I was looking for in a users guide. It lacks seriously in the Workshop Practice IMO.I was hoping for more practical data and instruction on how to achieve hardening and tempering for a less than controlled furnace environment for the more amateur user. I could get all the info contained here in internet search so I am dissapointed in the book . I think the title is somewhat misleading.

It would be a good introductory test to tempering, but I was looking for more detail. The terminology is all British, as is the author. I speak metric just fine, but I am stuck with SAE steels and the author is stuck with British or Euro designations.

Sensible choice

This book is a sensible choice for someone considering doing heat treating of steel at home or in a small shop. There is a reasonable basic explanation of the theory, though not in the detail you can find in texts aimed at industrial users. There is quite a bit of practical advice on small-shop methods, which is not well-covered in industrial books.

As a graduate student, I had this book for a graduate course in Matrix Theory, taught by Dr. Hans Schneider at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I've always liked it. Now that I'm planning my own course in Matrix Theory, I've been searching for just the right book for the type of course I want, which is an intro graduate level course for working engineers. I have tried, but cannot find, and don't really need, anything other than this book.

one marvelous point of view

What I consider "The Great general books on Linear Algebra" (this book, the Horn/Johnson ones, and the "evergreen" Gantmacher) each have a different point of view on this subject. I learned my first advanced Matrix theory on this book, and the "space transformation" oriented approach here displayed is essential for geometry oriented minds. (yes...unfortunately this book is still a bit expensive... )
